When I went to school in Shimoga and later in Bengaluru, my parents had almost no idea what I was up to between the morning bus and the evening one. A folded note about a missed test would arrive a week late. A behaviour issue would surface in a fifteen-minute parent–teacher meeting six months after it happened. The teacher's number was either everyone's or no one's.

Twenty years later, my baby cousins go to school the same way. Paper diaries that go missing. WhatsApp groups that drown out the one message that mattered. Parents who only learn their child was absent when the bus stopped at the school without them.

India has built the software that runs the rest of the world's banks, hospitals and airlines. But the place we send the people we love most, our schools, still operates on the same accountability gap as 2005. Kindred is the answer to one question: what would it take for every parent in India to know, in calm and verified detail, how their child's school day actually went?

Live tracking on the bus. A confirmed timestamp the moment they're safely at the gate. A direct line to the class teacher that doesn't disappear into a group of forty parents. A monthly attendance calendar that doesn't need a phone call to access. Accountability, not vague reassurance.
